Alcohol detox Florida

Updated

Alcohol detox Florida is watched withdrawal from alcohol, usually in a hospital, a residential bed, or an outpatient chair, with medication on the ward. David Lawrence Center in Naples lists alcohol and benzodiazepine detox and then keeps short-term residential and intensive outpatient on the same campus. DCF pays for this work through regional Managing Entities under section 394.9082, Florida Statutes.

David Lawrence Center: alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal in Naples

Withdrawal from alcohol can seize and it can kill. That is why Florida houses that list alcohol detoxification also list medication as routine practice, not as an extra you have to beg for. David Lawrence Center in Naples runs the withdrawal in residential detox and also in day treatment and intensive outpatient, and the Joint Commission and the DEA sit on its license line. Guidance Care Center in the Keys does the same mix: outpatient detox, residential detox, and short-term residential once the shakes are down.

Detox here is the first stretch, measured in days. Rehab is the next one. A lot of Florida programs do both on one street so nobody has to find a second bed on the worst morning of the week.

Hospital bed, residential bed, or outpatient chair

North Tampa Behavioral Health lists hospital inpatient detoxification and hospital inpatient treatment. The withdrawal row there is alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids, with medication used during it. Payment on the card is Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, private insurance, and cash. The Joint Commission and the hospital licensing authority are on the same line.

Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare holds a wider door: hospital inpatient detox, outpatient detox, and residential detox in one program. Alcohol, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids are all listed. CARF and a SAMHSA OTP certificate sit next to the state substance-use agency. If the person in front of you is still drinking and already seizing, this is the setting that matches the risk.

Medication on the alcohol-detox ward

EPIC Recovery Center keeps residential detoxification and short-term residential together. After the alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal, the same house offers a recovery coach, housing help, and employment counseling. Ages on the card are young adults, adults, and seniors.

UF Health Shands Florida Recovery Center in Gainesville is the outpatient version. People come in for medication and checks and sleep at home. The opioid side of that clinic lists buprenorphine detox and maintenance, naltrexone, and lofexidine or clonidine. The Joint Commission is the accreditation. Outpatient only works if someone can get back each day and if a clinician has already said the withdrawal is not the hospital kind.

Charlotte Behavioral and the five-substance row

David Lawrence Center takes Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, private insurance, cash, state-financed plans other than Medicaid, SAMHSA block grants, and IHS/Tribal funds. A sliding fee scale is printed on the same card. Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare prints the same government mix and a sliding scale, plus a line that says to ask the facility about other assistance. Guidance Care Center prints the sliding scale.

If there is no insurance, the county still has a Managing Entity under section 394.9082. Those entities do not treat anyone themselves. They steer DCF money to the detox and rehab houses in that region. A doctor's referral is not required to call them.

Who prints a sliding fee for alcohol detox

David Lawrence Center both writes alcohol medication itself and accepts a prescription written somewhere else. The pharmacy list there includes acamprosate, oral and injectable naltrexone, clonidine, and medication for mental disorders. Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare writes alcohol medication and adds disulfiram to that same family, plus buprenorphine with and without naloxone.

Benzodiazepine detoxification sits on the alcohol row at David Lawrence and at EPIC, because the two withdrawals stack. Houses that list it also list breathalyzer or blood alcohol testing and a urine or oral-fluid screen. That is how they know what else is in the blood before they taper.

Short-term residential already on the same campus

Discharge planning, naloxone education, and a follow-up after discharge are on the transitional line at David Lawrence Center. Recovery support there includes self-help groups, housing, social-service help, a recovery coach, and a peer. EPIC prints the same discharge and naloxone pair and adds employment counseling.

Short-term residential after detox is already on the setting list at both houses. That is the usual next door, not a separate search. Sign language is listed at EPIC. David Lawrence Center lists sign language, Spanish, and other languages besides Spanish.

Sign language, Spanish, and the follow-up call

Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare accepts children and adolescents, young adults, adults, and seniors. Special programs there include pregnant and postpartum women, veterans, criminal-justice clients other than DUI, and people with trauma or a co-occurring mental-health diagnosis. North Tampa Behavioral Health also takes children through seniors and lists a senior-specific program.

David Lawrence Center and Guidance Care Center both treat co-occurring serious mental illness in adults and serious emotional disturbance in children. Case management, mental-health services, and suicide-prevention services are on the ancillary line at both. That matters when the person coming off alcohol is also depressed or hearing things.

Naples, Port Charlotte, Gainesville, and the Keys

Start with the city page for the town you can actually reach. Naples holds David Lawrence Center. Port Charlotte is the Charlotte Behavioral Healthcare door. Gainesville holds the UF Health outpatient detox. The Keys hold Guidance Care Center. Tampa has the hospital inpatient unit at North Tampa Behavioral Health.

Inlet keeps those houses on the Florida city index and on this alcohol detox page. If the nearest city file has no detox row, the Managing Entity for that region is the next call, not a second guess at a rehab that only takes people after withdrawal is already over.
